No Acne - The Dermatologist way to clear skin.

Nothing is  worse than getting ready for a job interview, first day at the big high school or any situation where you want to make a good impression, is the pimple.  Not just a pimple but what seems to be a protrusion the size of your nose.  For some people this is the extent of it, for many it becomes a huge problem, one you can’t hide. It’s  one you can’t seem to cure with the over $500.00 worth of products that falls out of your medicine cabinet everytime you reach for the toothpaste and don’t do squat.  There are also some products that  may work, but how much money and time did you have to spend to find it?

Our skin is our bodies largest organ, we need to take care of it.  Acne is an enemy to our skin. Do you know what causes acne?  How about what is the best way to treat it and what remedy  is a myth?  Does your dermatologist make sure you know what causes it and the best way to treat it?  Or does your doctor just write a prescription, shake your hand and say “See you next time”?

Next time?  Let’s not have a next time or at least be well educated on how to prevent it.  You should also, with the help of  Dr. Harth’s book, be able to compile a list of well informed questions to pose to your doctor.

This book can give you many of the answers you’ve been seeking.  Dr. Harth explains to you in a clear concise voice what acne is, what it is not and the best approach to treating it. Any time we have a different malady we need to make sure we are fully informed to be a partner in treatment with our healthcare provider.  After all it is our body and being a fully informed patient can make your visit more to the point and useful.

Dinosaur Books For Kids: 55 Funky Facts About Dinosaurs

Pin it to remember it!

When my kids were small I often stepped on plastic dinosaurs scattered among the Legos on my nighttime journey to the restroom.  My youngest son was in love with dinosaurs.  The dinosaurs used to try and eat the Lego buildings my daughter had put up.   One of our favorite family outings was the Cleveland Natural History Museum.  They had many  dinosaur bone model exhibits which really showed how massive these amazing animals were.  There were plaques describing the name of the dinosaur, the environment it inhabited and diet.  We also purchased many books so we could all learn about these amazing creatures.  The problem was I usually had to revise the information so my young ones would be able to understand it.

What was missing were books that filled the transition from toddler to young child. This book and the series the book is in  fills that gap.  I love that this book is in the form of question and answers such as:  How many different kind of dinosaurs were there?  Which dinosaur had the largest teeth?   Each of the 55 funk facts has an illustration of different types of dinosaurs relevant to that category.  You can find out more about the series at the authors website: http://www.thedinodetective.com/

This is exactly the type of book you read with your kid,  your kid can read alone or you can sneak it into another room and read it yourself.  You and your kid will definitely enjoy this book sold through Amazon.  Find it here:  http://amzn.to/Ykotk1

“Storm Dancer” (Dark Epic Fantasy) by Rayne Hall

If you’re looking for a dark, compelling fantasy story that would make you read late into the night, rooting for the characters and hating the despicable villains so much that you wouldn’t be able to put the book down until you finish it, then look no further. “Storm Dancer” by Rayne Hall is the best choice you could make. The author has managed to create a vivid, exotic world, where the battle between good and evil seems endless, and where a hero is trying to make a difference by constantly fighting against his own dark side.

Dahoud is a siege commander who is trying to run away from his past and atone for his unspeakable atrocities. He has been resisting the djinn inside him for three years, and has tried to change his life by going into hiding and protecting women from the cruelties of war. It hasn’t been easy, but Dahoud is slowly turning into another man, a man that a woman can trust and love. When he meets Merida, a weather magician, he knows that he would do anything for her. But protecting her from himself has never been more difficult. Will Dahoud succumb to the demon inside him, or will he stand his ground and fight the terrible temptations burning right under his skin? I guess you’ll have to get the book as soon as possible to find out…

The characters Rayne Hall created are incredible. They are complex, very well fleshed out, and so relatable. Dahoud is a tormented hero, a man who has seen the unimaginable horrors of war, and has even been a part of it. Seeing him struggle with his own desires is heart-wrenching and, even though we know that he is possessed, this still makes us remember that we all have our moments when we need to find the strength to fight against our own impulses. Merida is a strong and confident woman who will go through the most challenging tests. She will have to forget her principles, if she wants to have a chance at survival, and this makes the reader root for her even more. It’s nice to see them together, as they were clearly made for each other.

“Storm Dancer” is an intense novel that tackles some disturbing issues, such as war, death, and violence against women. It is certainly not for the faint-hearted, and it is not suitable for young readers. With thought-provoking themes and memorable villains, “Storm Dancer” is sure to haunt you long after closing the book. The world-building is nothing short of brilliant, and Rayne Hall’s superb writing draws you in instantly. It is a story about political abuse, deception and cruelty, but also about courage, hope, change and, eventually, love.

The book contains British spellings, and it will also be available in print version.

“Overcoming Self-Esteem Problems in Teens and Pre-Teens: A Parent’s Guide” (Dr. T’s Living Well Series) by Dr. Richard L. Travis

Source: amazon.com via Jo on Pinterest

Many children today have self-esteem problems. In a world where criticism exists all around us, it’s easy to forget who we really are and how worthy we are of love, appreciations, and everything that is good in life. This happens especially to teens and pre-teens, who are going through a complex period of transformation. This is the age when they usually discover that they don’t like something about themselves. Maybe they don’t like their nose or their hair, or maybe they are unsure about their weight, or they are disappointed at their lack of physical abilities. As a parent, you need to support them and learn how you can help them build their confidence. This book – “Overcoming Self-Esteen Problems in Teens and Pre-Teens” – is exactly what you need.

Dr. Richard L. Travis has structured his book in a very practical way. You will first learn about what self-esteem is and what are the things that make children less confident. Knowing what you are dealing with is the first step to helping your child. Self-esteem is related to your feelings, your appraisal, and your evaluation about yourself. As you will see, it is a very delicate issue, and parents need to have a strong relationship based on trust with their children if they want to help them. Some teens and pre-teens have good self-esteem, others have bad self-esteem, and there are some who may have no self-esteem. You might be wondering why this book also discusses good self-esteem. Can it be dangerous? You will find out only by reading it.

Dr. Richard L. Travis has managed to cover the whole topic, so you will learn about the causes of low self-esteem, how you can treat this issue, and what may be the possible results of not treating it right. Everyone who comes in contact with your child has a great impact on him/her. You will read about the family’s role in creating high or low self-esteem, the school’s role, the society’s role, and the peer’s role. Of course, you cannot control all these factors, but you will find out how you can minimize their negative impact on your child.

“Overcoming Self-Esteen Problems in Teens and Pre-Teens” is a book that all parents should have on their shelf. Make sure your children are aware of their personal value, because this is the only way you can make sure they will grow up into confident, successful adults.

“365 Journal Writing Ideas: A year of daily journal writing prompts, questions & actions to fill your journal with memories, self-reflection, creativity & direction” by Rossi Fox

Have you ever wanted to keep a journal, but somehow you couldn’t bring yourself to open your favorite notebook and start filling the pages? Many people are intimidated by the blank page, but even more people start writing a journal and soon realize that their entries are becoming repetitive, so they eventually give up. How can these two problems be avoided? Believe it or not, there is a solution. There is a book that can literally help you keep a creative, thoughtful journal for a whole year: “365 Journal Writing Ideas” by Rossi Fox. Curious about how it works?

“365 Journal Writing Ideas” contains huge lists of journal writing prompts (365 prompts to be more exact, one for every day of the year), weekly actions that will help you vary your routine and try new experiences, ideas, thought-provoking questions, and over 400 quotes. Yes, over 400 quotes! Can you imagine that? Who doesn’t love quotes? I know I do…

This book is perfect for those who have always wanted to keep a journal but didn’t know how to go about it. Maybe you want to record your happiest moments so you could always go back to read them and relive them. If you ask anyone who has ever kept a journal, they will tell you that the best thing is that you can rediscover yourself through it. It’s nice to read it after several years and realize how much you’ve changed, how far you’ve come. “365 Journal Writing Ideas” will make sure you turn each of your journal pages in a meaningful record of your thoughts, feelings, memories, experiences and goals. After you finish writing it, it will be like reading a novel of your own life.

I’m also thinking how helpful this book would be to aspiring writers, or writers who are suffering of writer’s block. These prompts and quotes will give them creative ideas and help them start writing. It’s impossible not to be inspired by questions such as: “tell me about an adventure you would like to have,” or “what would you do if you knew you could not fail?” Just imagine the possibilities… and you can always write anything that crosses your mind in your journal and not be afraid that someone might it, because the author comes up with an awesome, practical solution to make sure no one will ever be able to read those pages. But you’ll have to get the book to find out about it.

If the idea of keeping a journal appeals to you, then I strongly advise you to get this book. It will help you choose a good notebook for your future journal, it will organize you and challenge you to write about things you’ve probably never thought about before.

The Traveller by Garrett Addison

Sometimes to get the measure of your life you just need a break from being yourself
because nothing lasts forever.   This is the premise that the plot for The Traveller is built on.

Garrett Addison’s main character is a consultant who feels he is totally inept and doomed.  This is the story of a very angry man and rightfully so.  He wants nothing more than to have a successful balance between work and family and he is failing.

He has a boss whose interactions with him are always a complete  exercise in verbal abuse.   She keeps him totally off kilter by making sure he’s never home long enough to be able to have the family life he craves  keeping him traveling more than at home,  all the while  making  sure he feels inadequate at his job.   She seems to want nothing but failure from him at every juncture of his life.

While packing his bags for yet another trip his wife foretells a metamorphosis and it occurs.  Now opportunity knocks in many different ways including the opportunity to get back at his boss.  I don’t know anyone who wouldn’t root for him getting her put in her place.

Garrett Addison makes him the ultimate everyman.  He gives us the opportunity to see what reclaiming power can do to a man or a woman and how that impacts every facet of our life.

Will he be able to use what he’s experienced when the veil rises and he’s back to himself without that aura?  Hopefully he holds on to the power he was able to attain.  Get to know more about the talented author of this book at – http://www.garrettaddison.com/   To find out if our consultant perseveres, go to Amazon and buy this amazing novel.  Find it here – http://amzn.to/16eeT3Q

“Audie the Angel and the Angel Army” (“The Angel Archives”) by Erika Kathryn, Bobby Hammer (illustrator)

Every child dreams to be a superhero, or a magical being with incredible powers, to wake up one day and find out they are special and it’s up to them to save the world from a terrible threat. This is exactly what happens to the main character in this book, Audie, who is a simple 12 year-old-girl. Or, this is what we think at first. She lives with her father, and she has never met her mother. She has just moved to a new city, and her life is normal, if not boring. The least she expects is to find out that she is actually an angel who completes the Angel Army and has to save Heaven from an evil Elder Angel.

The story is narrated by Cave, who has a huge crush on Audie. You’re going to love this book from the very first page, because Cave is smart, witty and funny, and his innocent love for Audie is so sweet that it makes you smile every time he talks about her. The way he describes her is absolutely adorable. No matter if you’re an adult or a child, you’ll want to see Audie and Cave together at the end. Unfortunately, no one knows what’s in store for them, because Audie has to go through a lot of transformations once she learns that she is an angel of Phoenix descent. From: Nazi, Germany To: Cuba. A story of Love, a Voyage of Deception

Recently I was blessed with the opportunity to hear part of one woman’s story of what happened to her Polish family in the years leading up to and including WWII.   She had a blue hand written tattoo on the inside of her wrist and when she saw me looking at it, she held out her hand and asked if I wanted to touch it and I did.  She then told me the horrors she had experienced under the Iron Hand of Hitler.

That is one of the many reasons I was so happy to see that Roberta Kagan was handling the story of this voyage through hell.  No one else can show all the vulnerabilities of the human condition during some of the worst horrors ever experienced in human history.  What better way can there be to show true cruelty when shown next to tenderness and love.

The passengers of the SS St. Louis carried 926 Jewish survivors who had been led to believe that Hitler was allowing them to emigrate to Cuba instead of dying in the death camps.   The cost of passage was very high and I imagine the sense of relief that the passengers felt was huge. It’s  almost unbelievable the number of ways the Nazis found in deceiving the Jews.  This trip isn’t the clean escape they thought it was, it  will be filled with horror, pain and betrayal.   This fictional portrayal of the true story of the SS St. Louis shows us  the passengers as they try to survive such horror.

The story also shows how love can happen even under the worst of circumstances which is how we are able to see how hope stays alive.
